Whether You Want Simple Or Extravagant Styles, Acrylic Bathtubs Offer Many Options

There are two different ways that people view a bathtub. Some people view bathtubs as completely utilitarian; something that is meant to provide a service. Other people, however, view bathtubs as an extension of their design style; a way to create a specific look for their bathroom. No matter which category you fall under when it comes to the way you view bathtubs, you will find that acrylic bathtubs can fall under either category in terms of design.

One utilitarian use for acrylic bathtubs are walk in bathtubs like the Ella's Deluxe line found on Amazon. While this style of bathtub, which has whirlpool jets, hand held shower feature and a water heater, costs about $4,100, there are less expensive walk in bathtubs that offer less features. Walk in bathtubs offer those with mobility issues the ability to live independently longer because they don't have to worry about hurting themselves when taking a bath. Purchasing an acrylic walk in bathtub allows for do it your instillation because acrylic is so lightweight.

If you don't need a walk in bathtub but you still want a more utilitarian, inexpensive option for your bathroom, then acrylic bathtubs like the American Standard Renaissance 5 Ft. x 32 In. Series Acrylic Whirlpool found at Home Depot for $400 is an excellent option. If you want an even more basic and more affordable option, Lowe's offers the American Standard  60"L x 32"W White Tub for $300. Both of these models offer the durability and the easy maintenance that acrylic offers making them both a good choice for your home.

If you are one of the many people who think a bathtub should be an extension of your home's design, there are tons of options for you as well. There are acrylic bathtubs that offer clean contemporary looks, such as the 70 Inch Windemere Acrylic Soaker Tub found on the Internet for about $750. If you have a huge budget then perhaps the Duravit 700060 Sanitary Acrylic Freestanding Rectangular Bath Tub offered for $12,392 from one seller will fit your design scheme.

Naturally, you can find beautiful slipper tubs like the Catherine Acrylic Double Slipper Clawfoot Tub at Signature Hardware for $1,200 or the Randolph Morris Clawfoot Tub Package from a vendor for $989. This particular package includes all of the hardware needed, such as the faucet and the hand held shower feature, allowing you to purchase everything you need from one place.

Regardless of the reasons that you want an acrylic bathtub, you will find that there are many different styles and price ranges to choose from. Remember, however, unless you purchase a package, you will need to purchase all of the other things you need for your tub (faucets, for example) and to include that cost in your budget before you make your purchase.

Do You Know How to Install a Bathtub?

By Christopher W Smith
Even when you've chosen a "lightweight" fiberglass or acrylic bathtub, installing it is going to be a heavy job. There are two basic types of bathtubs you can install: a traditional framed bathtub or a freestanding bathtub such as a claw foot tub. When deciding which type you'd like to install, one main consideration is the amount of space you have available in your bathroom. If you are replacing a framed tub, you'll most likely need to put another framed tub in its place, because a claw foot tub won't fit into the same space a framed tub did. Measure your space carefully, and then make your decision and buy your tub.
